Working Mindfully While Spending 2 Weeks In Europe
Working for yourself means the momentum of your business is up to you. So how are you supposed to keep things on track while you’re on vacation?
Here’s how I’m staying on track, working mindfully, and also enjoying two weeks in Europe.
BLOCKING OFF TIME FOR WORK
Have you ever had a lingering feeling that something needs to get done? Where your body is in one place, but your mind is preoccupied somewhere else? That’s exactly what I’m trying to avoid.
To tackle this, I’ve blocked off days and times designated for work. I’ve scheduled calls and meetings in blocks so that I can spend specific times working. This means that I’ll spend a few hours on work mode, and when I’m done, I’m done, and vacation mode is on.
By the way, my Latina Entrepreneur Virtual Summit session will be going live on June 10 while I’m in Venice. Ciao! If you’ve signed up (or plan to), there’s a Facebook Live Q&A happening right after my session. I’ll see you then! I’ll be answering your questions about PR, what you need to get started, and how to find the right publicist for you. More details about the summit here.
AUTOMATING AND SETTING UP PROCESSES
If you’re taking time off, so is your business, right? Not necessarily. Setting up processes and automations can keep things on track by providing virtual support. I’ll be using these tech tools to streamline things while I’m away:
Mailchimp: This is the newsletter software I use, and it has the ability to schedule emails ahead of time. Mischief Makers, an email interview series featuring badass women, goes out every Monday. I’m planning ahead and scheduling the next two interviews to go live on their designated dates so I don’t have to worry about it while I’m away. If you want to see those stories when they go live, sign up for the Ambition + Mischief newsletter here.
Planoly: This is my favorite content scheduler/planner. I use it to plan IG content ahead of time, while still being thoughtful about what I”m sharing.
Calendly: It shows others what times you’re available (or not available) so they can schedule a meeting without the back-and-forth emails.
BLOCKING OFF TIME TO CHILL
Working for yourself means the momentum of your business is up to you, but that doesn’t mean you can’t take time to chill. I’ve come to realize that in order to run a mindful business, I need to create boundaries, accept support in different forms, and prioritize the time that fills me up so I can pour back into my business.
